FAQ
Do you accept walk on customers?
All Lady D Charters trips are reserved in advance. We do not accept walk up guests. Every fishing charter is private for your group only, so you enjoy the full attention of our crew and will never be placed with mixed groups.
What should we bring on our charter?
What you bring depends on the length of your fishing trip, but a few items are important for every Orange Beach deep sea fishing charter. We recommend bringing
- Drinks
- Food or snacks
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- A hat
- A camera or phone for photos
- Ziploc bags for your fish
- A cooler for taking your cleaned fish home
For longer or overnight Gulf of Mexico fishing trips, you may also want comfortable evening clothing, personal toiletries, and any medications you take regularly.
Do I need an Alabama fishing license?
No. Your Alabama saltwater fishing license is included in the cost of your Lady D charter. Every fishing guest is covered, so there is nothing you need to purchase before your trip.
What is provided on Lady D?
Lady D Charters provides everything you need for a successful day of offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. This includes
- All rods, reels, tackle, and bait
- Assistance from an experienced crew who rigs and baits lines
- A saltwater fishing license for each angler
- Ice stocked coolers for drinks and food
- Air conditioned cabin space for breaks
- Comfortable salon seating and overnight sleeping quarters

Guests are welcome to bring items they would like to grill during the trip.
Is there a bathroom on the boat?
Yes. Lady D has a clean and comfortable restroom located inside the air conditioned cabin. It is easily accessible throughout the trip and available at all times, including during overnight fishing charters.
What should we know about overnight trips?
Overnight fishing charters include padded berths inside the air conditioned cabin. Sleeping bags are recommended because they are easy to store and set up, although bed sheets may also be used. Please bring all prescription medications you will need for the duration of your charter.
For two and three day offshore fishing trips, the boat typically departs the evening before the first full day of fishing. This allows the captain to run offshore overnight and position your group on productive fishing grounds early the next morning.
You may also want to bring
- Comfortable clothing for day and night
- Personal toiletries
- A light jacket or hoodie
- Snacks or meals for extended trips
What should we know about departure times for multi day trips?
For multi day offshore fishing charters, Lady D typically leaves the marina the evening before your first scheduled fishing day. This early departure allows the captain to reach prime fishing areas before sunrise and maximize your time on the water. Exact departure details will be confirmed in advance.
Can I bring a cooler on board?
Please bring a cooler but plan to leave it in your vehicle until the end of the trip. Lady D has built in coolers for drinks and food, along with a refrigerator inside the cabin. Your cooler will only be needed to transport your cleaned fish home.
What should we know about motion sickness?
Motion sickness can happen, even for experienced anglers. Captain Casey prioritizes safety and comfort and will not leave the dock if conditions are not suitable.
You can also help prevent motion sickness by
- Avoiding greasy foods the night before and morning of your trip
- Taking over the counter medications such as Dramamine, Bonine, or Antivert
- Asking your doctor about Scopolamine patches if you are prone to nausea
- Applying Scopolamine patches at least four hours before departure
If anyone begins to feel unwell, please let the crew know. They are experienced in helping guests manage symptoms quickly.
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Yes. In most cases, guests keep their catch within current Alabama and federal fishing regulations. Seasons and limits vary by species. Your crew will guide you on what may be harvested and will clean and bag your fish at the end of your charter.
Can children come on board?
Absolutely. Lady D Charters welcomes families and children of all ages. Life jackets are provided, and the crew is patient and helpful with young anglers. If you are bringing very small children, please let us know ahead of time so we can prepare.
What should I wear?
Comfort is key on the water. We recommend
- Lightweight clothing
- A hat
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Boat shoes or sneakers with non marking soles
During cooler months, please bring layers. It can feel cooler once you are offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
Are food and drinks allowed?
Yes. Guests are welcome to bring their own food, snacks, and drinks. We have stationary coolers for your drinks, and a refrigerator inside as well.
Alcohol is permitted in moderation for guests twenty one and older. Glass containers are discouraged for safety reasons.
We have a Big Green Egg permanently mounted on the boat. If you have something you want to grill, bring it!
Can we bring our own rods or tackle?
Yes, although most guests choose to use the professional grade equipment provided on board. All gear is maintained daily and selected specifically for the type of fishing planned for your charter.
What time should we arrive?
Please arrive at the marina at least fifteen minutes before your scheduled departure time. This allows for a smooth check in and gives the crew time to review safety information before boarding.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is always the priority. If weather conditions are unsafe, Captain Casey will make the call to delay, reschedule, or cancel the trip. Guests will never be taken offshore in conditions that are considered unsafe or excessively uncomfortable.
Is gratuity included?
Gratuity for the crew is not included in the price of your charter. Tips are never required but always appreciated. The average gratuity ranges from fifteen to twenty percent based on service.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made within the timeframe specified at booking will receive appropriate refunds or credits. Weather related cancellations made by the captain will be handled fairly and clearly communicated. For exact cancellation terms, please refer to your confirmation email or booking agreement.
👉 Note for you:
You may want to confirm whether there is a standard cancellation window such as 48 or 72 hours. If not, this wording is perfect and flexible.
Can we request a custom trip?
Yes. Lady D Charters offers customized fishing trips based on your group size, experience level, and goals. If you are interested in a specialty trip, multi day offshore charter, or specific type of fishing, please contact us so we can tailor the experience.
